Colour psychology is something every creative should have in their toolkit. It’s absolutely game-changing.

I’m thrilled to be working with Fiona Humberstone, the esteemed Brand Stylist and best selling author and together we bring you this creative, inspirational and exclusive event exploring the power of Colour Psychology and how this can be used to invigorate your design process.

Colour is such a huge topic and as professional interior designers, bloggers, retailers or students of design, you may already be converse with its power to transform the feel and mood of a room. This course goes so much deeper than ‘Blue is calming’ and uses Colour Psychology to streamline the design process and help bring clarity to a brief.  By exploring the ‘seasonal personalities’, and identifying which profile your client/customer/reader falls into, you’ll be better equipped to ask your client the relevant questions and quickly dismiss those red herrings that can frustrate a project.

“Sometimes I focus too much on the daily running of the business and this course has inspired me to get back to the basics and get creative”

Julianne Kelly, Interior Designer

As a brand expert Fiona will also help you discover your own unique brand placement, your design style and the value that you bring to every project. Interior stylist Sophie Robinson will draw on her 20 years experience of colour scheming interiors and share her sheer love of colour to ensure the day is as richly inspiring. This event is also a great opportunity to network with fellow creatives and business owners.

9.45            INTRODUCTION.

Time for Sophie and Fiona to introduce themselves, and set out the objectives and aims of the day’s workshop. It’s also a chance for you to share what you hope to get out of the day and your reasons for coming.

10.10 EXPLORING THE SEASONAL PERSONALITIES

We outline the framework of Colour Psychology and its benefits as to streamlining your design process and setting your business apart from the competition. We’ll take a closer look at the designers at the top of their game and how their branded appearance reflects the seasonal personalities.

11.00 CAKES AND COFFEE

More than just a pit stop and time to refuel. We’re serious about cake

11.20 TRANSLATING YOUR BRIEF INTO A SEASONAL PERSONALITY.

In this session we give you the tools to work on your brief, either for a real or fictional client. We’ll discuss our own design processes and how to take a brief and work it into something coherent and inspirational, while communicating with clarity will help to keep the project running smoothly. We’ll also tell you why we think identifying and saying no to the wrong clients is just as important for your business.

11.50            IDENTIFYING THE SEASONAL PERSONALITY OF YOUR BRIEF

You’ll take a closer look at your prepared briefs and identify what seasonal personality they fall into so you can go forth and design with clear intention.

12.20             HANDS ON SESSION VISION BOARDING YOUR STREAMLINED BRIEF

Now’s the time to get creating a delicious vision board for your client using the new Colour Psychology framework. You’ll use tears that you’ve bought along as well as delving into our image library.

13.00             LUNCH

OMG this could possibly be the best part of the day. Have we organised you a feast for sore eyes!

14.00 SOPHIES STYLE SURGERY

Sophie will take each of the four seasons and, sharing her most loved styling tricks, create four different vignettes. We’ll also look at what happens when you blend two seasons together, and how this can deepen the look of a scheme.

14.45 IDENTIFYING THE SEASONAL PERSONALITY OF YOUR SECOND BRIEF

Time to take your second design brief and determine the season by looking at the key emotive words. In such a way your design will be cohesive, coherent and utterly compelling for your client.

15.00 TRANSLATNG THE SEASONAL PERSONALITY INTO TONES AND TEXTURES

Fiona explains the process of translating emotions into tangible objects and finishes and how texture and tone directly effect the way things feel. This takes a room scheme from being merely tear-sheet-chic into something that will resonate with your client on a much deeper level.

15.20 HANDS ON SESSION MAKING MATERIAL BOARDS FOR YOUR STREAMLINED BRIEF

Putting into practice the Colour Psychology framework and using the materials and samples you’ve bought with you, as well as our materials library, now’s the opportunity to make up a coherent presentation board for your project with ease. You’ll discover how to become a more daring designer that’ll give you that edge.

16.00 FEED BACK AND FIZZ

An opportunity to reflect on the day and set some new commitments to energise and refocus your next set of business goals. Followed by a glass of fizz to celebrate the day, mingle with newfound friends and clear up any questions before heading home, head brimming full of fresh ideas!
