I found this tired old chair at a car boot sale at Brighton Marina and snapped it up for £40. It looked in very good nick for such an old chair, I reckon by the shape of it it’s Georgian and still well sprung and filled with horsehair. I gave it to my friend Anna at Brighton Upholstery who has done the most marvellous transformation with it. We raided my fabric stash and picked a selection of plains, stripes and florals to cover each panel of the chair- all finished off with a line of lime green piping. Perfect! I think the graphic shape of the chair works really well with the clash of fabrics. I chose fabrics that had similar colours so I knew the whole thing would hang together well. Very pleased with the results and something I know we’ll cherish in our family home for years to come
